Things to do in Pembrokeshire

This page gives you a general feel for the many things to do in Pembrokeshire on your stay at Fields Lodge, we have much more detailed information ready and waiting for you in the lounge if any of the following appeals to your adventurous side!

Walking

Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is renowned and Fields Lodge sits on the path seen flagged on the Ordinance Survey Map. As well as the National Park, we sit on smaller paths granted by Tyr Gofal, again this path can be accessed from the back of Fields Lodge. Take the path from Sandy Haven to Dale and you will find many hidden sandy coves that you may well find that you will have to yourself - even in the height of the summer.

Cycling

We have an abundance of vehicle free cycle paths that can be picked up at many spots around Milford Haven and Neyland. Jayne is a keen cyclist and has good knowledge of the local paths.

Golf

The local Golf club is only a two minute drive away, with an excellent course suitable for all abilities. Visitors are most welcome.

Diving

Pembrokeshire National Park apart from its famous coast path is almost as famous for its diving. We have links to the local BSAC club and are able to point you in right direction for any assistance you may need whilst diving in the Pembrokeshire Coast. Air fills can be arrange with the local dive shop without too much fuss. Drying room facilities for Dive gear will be provided. The is sufficient car parking space to facilitate rib parking.

Bird and Nature Watching

The cliffs provide excellent viewing for many bird species and even if you don't want to venture very far you can sit in the lounge at Fields Lodge and watch the wildlife from the comfort of a comfy sofa - we are very honoured to have many unusual birds visiting the garden. Woodpecker, Lapwing and Pheasant as well as the more common garden birds. We have an owl that likes to visit whilst out and about at night. There are superb boat trips around the beautiful islands off the coast and is a "must do".

Surfing and Kayaking

The beaches all around Fields Lodge are prime locations for these sports - in particular Newgale is superb for surfing or any wind sport.

Horse Riding

There are many riding schools that offer great hacks across the countryside and along the sea shore - suitable for all abilities - a gallop across the beach with the wind in your face is an exhilarating experience and guaranteed to give you an appetite!

Beaches

Fantastic! What more can we say - Fields Lodge sits right in the middle of a range of beautiful beaches. Sandy Haven is one of Pembrokeshire's most wonderful beaches and is completely different at full tide to low tide. It is one of the most uncommercialised beaches and is a hidden asset. 5 minutes drive away is Little Haven - a wonderful small charismatic beach and this leads onto Broad Haven, Druidston Haven, Nolton Haven and then Newgale.

Not forgetting in the other direction; St Brides, Dale, West Dale, Marloes, St Martins Haven, Musslewick Bay - these are all fantastic beaches that all deserve a visit.

Fishing

Fishing is a dedicated pastime in the local area with many boasting of some great catches-whether you want to fish from shore or out at sea you will not be disappointed.
